Dietetic Technician: Here I work with adolescent and adult intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization patients at an eating disorder treatment center. My duties include providing patient dietary support, facilitating group therapy sessions, patient menu planning, therapeutic cooking and baking, monitoring and enforcing of dietary programs, advising patients appropriately on food choices and behaviors, medical charting, grocery shopping, and maintaining a clean and well stocked kitchen. The groups I lead and assist with include intuitive eating, neuroscience, mindful movement, conscious social media, kitchen skills, relaxation and mindfulness techniques, and body acceptance.

Education Specialist: In this position I work with a small team to develop marketing campaigns and social media outreach centered around healthy living, nutrition, and sustainability. I am responsible for organizing, facilitating, and instructing cooking classes at our on-site teaching kitchen. I also film and produce nutrition education and cooking videos and assist with recipe development, food photography, nutrition content creation and blog writing.

Group Fitness Instructor: I worked at the UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center as a Indoor Cycle Instructor. In this position I was I led group exercise while ensuring proper form and physical safety of the students in the class. Additionally I was responsible for organizing and designing group content including planning engaging exercise routines, stretch routines, class schedules, and participant attendance while providing participant motivation regardless of fitness level.

Assistant Chef: Here I worked for a personal chef who made meals for individuals with specialized diets including DASH, Low FODMAP, TLC, Gluten Free, Vegan, and Allergen Free. From this I gained valuable food preparation skills, such as how to adapt recipes for certain allergies or food preferences.
Internships:
Nutrition Counselor: Here I worked under a Registered Dietitian to provide nutrition counseling services to students and faculty on campus. I was responsible for analyzing diet records, inputting them into ESHA Food Processor, and meeting one-on-one with clients for assessments and counseling sessions. From this I gained valuable experience in motivational interviewing as well as communication skills working one-on-one with various clients. I also gained experience in community outreach by organizing group events and nutrition education workshops.

Kitchen Intern: Here I worked under a chef to prepare snacks and meals for a preschool-5th grade elementary school. In this position I learned many different cooking and food preparation skills and have very strong confidence in the kitchen, especially when it comes to culturally appropriate food preparation. I also assisted in the planning of the school’s cycle menu and recipes used according to appropriate nutrition needs.

Media Outreach Intern: Here I independently developed engaging and informative nutrition related posts for the Nutrition 10 class social media sites. This course on average has 1,000 students enrolled per quarter and is open to all majors. In this position I created weekly newsletters and posters for class announcements and campus outreach events. I have experience with graphic design using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva to develop specialized content. I also have photography experience using everything from point-and-shoot cameras to DSLR’s with various lenses. From this position I have gained valuable skills in community outreach and nutrition education with an emphasis on translating nutrition science into clear and relatable information.
Leadership:
Student Nutrition Association: The Student Nutrition Association is a student-run organization with over 100 active members and is the only nutrition organization on UC Davis campus. As a board member I fill the roles of both event coordinator and treasurer by making executive decisions on organization-run events and
allocation of funds. I was also responsible for conducting event promotions via social media along
with other forms of communication where I would design outreach content such as posters and
flyers. As event coordinator I managed all of the outreach communications between the SNA and
other campus or community organizations and oversaw and documented all events held
throughout the year.
